What you will do Lead end-to-end product design efforts—from user research and ideation to prototyping, usability testing, and final design execution—to create intuitive, high-impact user experiences. Define overarching design principles and frameworks that ensure consistency and scalability across a company’s applications or product ecosystem. Partner with cross-functional leaders (such as product, engineering, and research) to shape product strategy and articulate a long-term vision for user experience. Mentor other designers and uplifts organizational design standards, influencing company-wide processes and raising the creative bar. Advocate for design as a strategic function that drives innovation and measurable business outcomes Shape design culture, facilitate inclusive collaboration, and help technology organizations evolve toward more user-centered decision-making. In career progression, the Senior Principal title typically represents the highest individual contributor tier before executive design leadership (e.g., VP of Design or Chief Design Officer). At this level, the designer’s role transitions from managing projects to setting vision across teams, influencing senior leadership, and representing design both internally and externally as a driver of innovation and industry thought leadership. Work across BigBear.ai on user experience design and unifying brand and application experience in all applications. What you need to have Demonstrated experience as a Senior UX designer with management and leadership experience. 16 + Years of relevant experience with a relevant BA/BS degree. Required Tools Figma, Axure, Pendo, Jira, Confluence, Photoshop, Illustrator, FigJam, HTML CSS, HTML, iOS, Sitecore, OpenAI, Respondent, Sketch. Skills Mobile Design - Experience crafting mobile interfaces and workflows tailored to the constraints and expectations of mobile users, ensuring usability and consistency across devices. Responsive Design - Skills in designing fluid interfaces that adapt elegantly to different screen sizes and devices, maintaining usability and brand consistency. Team Mentorship - Proven record mentoring junior designers and cross-functional team members, facilitating skill development and fostering a collaborative, inclusive environment. Prototyping Ability to rapidly translate concepts into interactive prototypes for user testing, stakeholder review, and efficient iteration during product development. Application Design - Experience driving the end-to-end design of complex applications, focusing on business requirements, technical feasibility, and outstanding user experience. Usability Testing - Expertise planning and conducting tests to evaluate design decisions, identify pain points, and validate proposed solutions with real users. User Interviews - Proficiency conducting interviews to gather user insights, inform personas, and validate user needs as part of a human-centered design process.[6] UX Writing - Skilled in writing clear, concise, and accessible interface copy, microcopy, help text, and error messages to enhance user experience and engagement. Visual Design - Strength in developing visual assets, including layouts, iconography, color systems, and typography, ensuring a cohesive and appealing brand presentation. Wireframing - Ability to create wireframes and low-fidelity mockups that structure page content, layout, and navigation, forming the foundation for design and development iteration. What we'd like you to have A minimum of 14+ years of experience and a Master’s degree in Human Centered Design and Engineering.
