Senior Director, Interior Design Luxury

About the position The Senior Director will lead a portion of the studio team and oversee the Marriott Luxury brand hotel design process for managed and franchised properties. This role focuses on ensuring brand compliance, quality control, and operational effectiveness while serving as a key representative for Marriott and Global Design. The position emphasizes strategic brand and design guidance, resource allocation, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Responsibilities • Lead the execution of architecture and interior design projects in the Luxury hard brand segment. • Collaborate with owners/franchisees and consultant teams to deliver innovative design solutions that meet project budgets, schedules, and brand standards. • Work closely with Brand, OFS, and other partners on strategic renovation initiatives to increase compliance and maximize owner/franchisee ROI. • Maintain strong owner/franchisee relationships and lead strategic discussions in owner/franchise forums. • Influence owners/franchisees through business, design, and brand expertise to gain compliance with brand requirements. • Manage complex project processes and communications to ensure timely completion of responsibilities by the project team. • Ensure accurate project data tracking and consistent adoption of tools and programs across the team. • Distribute and monitor workload evenly across the team and prioritize high-impact work. • Support department leaders and function as backup in their absence. • Lead studio and cross-department initiatives and drive process innovation. • Provide day-to-day management of team members' performance and input for their career development. • Represent Marriott and Global Design internally and externally on projects and at industry events. • Embrace continuous learning and improvement, seeking new processes and technology for highest impact. Requirements • 12 or more years' progressive experience in architecture and/or interior design. • 4-year degree from an accredited university in Architecture, Interior Design, Construction Project Management or related discipline. • Team leadership and proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships. • Strong project management skills. Nice-to-haves • Eight or more years' experience on hospitality projects. • Architectural or Interior Design licensure/accreditation. • Master of Architecture or advanced degree in related discipline.
