Security Dispatcher - St Luke's Medical Center - Part Time - 3rd shift - Advocate Health Care - Illinois - Wisconsin - work from home job Company: Advocate Health Care Job description: Department: 11577 Support Operations Division - Security: St Lukes Hospital Status: Part time Benefits Eligible: No Hours Per Week: 16 Schedule Details/Additional Information: Part time 3rd shift .4 fte (32 hours every 2 weeks) working every other weekend. Major Responsibilities: • Processes calls requesting assistance and dispatches security officers utilizing the two-way radio system. • Conducts security response and patrol functions and responds to emergency situations when security officers are not present. • Monitors security, fire, and other alarm systems at the AAO, notifying officers of alarms received. Provides back-up alarm system monitoring for all Aurora medical centers whenever needed. • Coordinates emergency and non-emergency response to criminal, medical, or fire related incidents. • Maintains accurate computerized burglary alarm call lists and alarm event instructions. • Monitors the CCTV system to detect criminal activity, dispatches officers when suspicious activity is noted, and documents all observations and unusual incidents. Utilizes the video management software application to retrieve recorded video for use as evidence. • Signs outs keys/access cards to employees, and ensures proper documentation. Provides key cutting and distribution service for Aurora facilities. • Provides information and directions to patients, visitors, and employees. Ensures traffic control, monitors the conduct of visitors, confronts unauthorized persons for questioning, and addresses safety hazards and security vulnerabilities. • Controls access through remote locked entrances and screens visitors who are requesting access for proper authorization. • Performs clerical duties including typing, data entry, filing, telephone answering, generating statistical reports from computer databases, maintaining and updating operational manuals, performing audits of keys and envelops containing patient's valuable. Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required: • Security Officer healthcare certification (CHSO) issued by the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS). Education Required: • High School Graduate. Experience Required: • Typically requires 1 year of experience in security that includes experiences in dispatching security officers to issues or potential threats, responding to emergent situations, identifying and resolving issues that pose a potential risk, and working with computerized access control, alarm monitoring, and CCTV systems or 1 year of experience in a call center or similar communications position or completion of 21 credits in a Criminal Justice (CJ) or Police Science program from an accredited college or university. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: • Demonstrated ability to exercise mature judgment and sound reasoning while maintaining a courteous and tactful demeanor in dealings with employees, visitors, and patients. • Demonstrated experience in assessing dangerous situations quickly, accurately, and taking appropriate action. • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form. • Basic typing skills and experience in computer data entry and data retrieval. • Ability to fill out forms, prepare reports, relay information to the appropriate officials, and order supplies. • Ability to work a flexible scheduling including off-shifts, weekends and holiday, as necessary • Demonstrated strong decision making and problem solving skills. • Security Officer healthcare certification (CHSO) issued by the International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) needs to be attempted within one year of hire and successfully obtained by the end of the 2nd year in order to remain employed. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: • Must be able to handle multiple, simultaneous responsibilities, and remain calm in emergency/stressful situations. • Ability to use the telephone effectively with a clear speaking voice. • Will sit/stand at workstation for approximately 90% of the workday. • Must have functional speech, vision, and hearing. • Exposed to a normal office environment. • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
