POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for thorough review of clinical documentation and diagnostic results applicable to extract data and appropriately apply ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS codes and modifiers for billing and reimbursement, internal and external reporting, research, and regulatory compliance. Interacts as needed with internal customers to include but not limited to hospital staff, physicians and their offices, and other revenue cycle team members. Responsibilities • Thorough review of clinical documentation and diagnostic results applicable to extract data • Appropriately apply ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS codes and modifiers for billing and reimbursement, internal and external reporting, research, and regulatory compliance • Interact as needed with internal customers to include but not limited to hospital staff, physicians and their offices, and other revenue cycle team members • Attend continuing education workshops, webinars, etc., for coding compliance and maintenance of CEUs. • Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements • Highschool Diploma or GED • 1 year or more professional coding experience • Certification from AHIMA or AAPC • Knowledge of medical terminology. • Demonstrate excellent organizational, computer, written and oral communication skills. • Demonstrate strong Microsoft Office knowledge skills. • Must possess working knowledge of Official Coding Guidelines and AHA Coding Clinic. • Strong time management and critical thinking skills.
