Classification Title Program Chair / Program Director Min Salary Max Salary Salary Type Annual FLSA E = Exempt Position Type: Faculty Position Summary: • Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is seeking a dedicated and experienced dental professional to serve as the Program Chair for the Dental Assisting Program. This full-time faculty position plays a critical leadership role in maintaining the quality, relevance, and integrity of the Dental Assisting curriculum. The Program Chair is a content specialist responsible for ensuring the program remains comprehensive, current, and aligned with industry standards and accreditation requirements. Required Education/Experience: • Bachelor’s degree in a related field. • Certified Dental Assistant, CPR Certified, Four-Handed Dentistry (at least 3 years in chair-side dentistry), completed methodology classes. Preferred Education/Experience/Skills: • At least 3 years teaching experience in community college. Schedule classes according to the program’s progression plan and College’s scheduling pattern (unless otherwise approved), and in consideration of student needs and campus locations. Duty and Responsibility: 2. Assign faculty to sections, in accordance with College credentialing and scheduling processes. Duty and Responsibility: 3. Conduct program planning and assessment, which includes annual planning and program review deliverables. Duty and Responsibility: 4. Develop and manage program budget(s) and purchases in cooperation with the Academic Dean. Duty and Responsibility: 5. Maintain inventories, where appropriate. Duty and Responsibility: 6. Participate in the selection, orientation, and mentoring of faculty members, in accordance with College processes and requirements. Duty and Responsibility: 7. Monitor the performance of faculty members. Activities include but are not limited to conducting performance evaluations, classroom observations, and course reviews (as applicable), and reviewing the Student Evaluation of Instruction survey results. Duty and Responsibility: 8. In accordance with College guidelines, take appropriate action to address and resolve any faculty or student issues that arise. Duty and Responsibility: 9. Process faculty requests, forms, reports, etc., as applicable; Coordinate faculty substitutions due to instructor absence. Duty and Responsibility: 10. Coordinate and conduct faculty meetings and advisory committee meetings (including the recruitment and recommendation of committee members). Duty and Responsibility: 11. Make recommendations for curriculum revisions, textbook adoptions and other course materials, library acquisitions, and new course offerings. Duty and Responsibility: 12. Maintain the program’s compliance with accreditation, regulatory, and licensing agencies (as applicable). Duty and Responsibility: 13. Update and maintain course-specific content within program syllabi templates and course templates (within the College’s learning management system); Monitor and/or approve faculty edits to syllabus and course content, as applicable.
