Position: Patient Care Technician (PCT) Cardiac/Telemetry Overview Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Tech (PCT) for a full time, night shift position in South Boston, VA. Hours: 7PM to 7AM. Three 12 hour shifts (36-hours per week), with rotating weekends. About the Unit Telemetry/Stroke Unit at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital provides care for patients with cardiac conditions including heart failure, cardiac rhythm disturbances, newly implanted permanent pacemakers and defibrillators, post- coronary interventions, post-ablation, myocardial infarctions. PCT staff will see between 8 and 12 patient ratio on the unit. Responsibilities Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff members who are accountable to, and work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care. Provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional nurse. Observe patients physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any change to the nursing staff. Qualifications • HS - High School Grad or Equivalent • One of the following programs: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, successful completion of the CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, or current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of an RN/LPN/RT/PT or current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant. Certifications/Licensure • AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire. Experience • One year of health care experience preferred.
