Experienced Celebrity Freelance Writer Pay: $20 per 700-word article Hours: Flexible Location: Fully remote The Blast is seeking an experienced writer who is passionate about being at the forefront of the next big celebrity news and viral entertainment stories. Required Attributes and Skills - 2+ years of experience in celebrity and/or entertainment news - Familiar with WordPress/Slack/Canva - Familiar with content management systems - Familiar with social media embeds - Familiar with basic image manipulation for article use - Familiar with search engine optimization - Must be able to craft fresh, timely articles as news breaks or trends break out - Must be able to discuss and incorporate staff feedback in writing - Must be able to adhere to an AP style guideline Desired Skills - Detailed knowledge of one or more celebrity and entertainment topics, such as a genre, industry practice, or a celebrity biography. - A passion for covering a broad range of topics, whether Hollywood A-listers, music chart-toppers, trending reality stars, celebrity wives and girlfriends, feuds, rappers, or unusual Instagram likes. - An ability to recognize and follow entertainment intrigue across multiple mediums and social media platforms, such as interview subtext, concert references, subtweets, meaningful follows/unfollows, likes, and more. - The ability to access and cover newsworthy events in person is a plus.
