Backend API Developer (.NET / PostgreSQL / Redis) – Mobile Game Backend - Contract to Hire

We are looking for a skilled Backend API Developer to build and maintain the backend services powering a large-scale, persistent-world mobile game. You will focus exclusively on the backend API layer, designing secure, scalable services that support authentication, player data, economy, server coordination, and world persistence. Responsibilities •Design, implement, and maintain RESTful APIs using .NET (ASP.NET Core). • Develop backend systems for authentication, player profiles, inventory, jobs, economy, and persistent world state. • Work with PostgreSQL to design optimized schemas, queries, and migrations. • Implement caching layers and high-performance data flows using Redis. • Integrate APIs with game server instances, dashboards, and admin tools. • Ensure API security (JWT, rate-limiting, encryption, permissions). • Build monitoring, logging, and error-handling systems. • Deploy, manage, and scale services on AWS (ECS/Lambda, RDS, ElastiCache, CloudWatch, etc.). • Collaborate with Unity client developers and the multiplayer/networking team. Requirements • Strong experience with C# and ASP.NET Core. • Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL, relational design, and performance tuning. • Hands-on experience with Redis (caching, distributed locks, queues). • Practical experience deploying and scaling systems on AWS. • Understanding of distributed systems, REST with high concurrency, and API security. • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployments (Docker). Nice to Have • Experience in gaming backends or online services. • Knowledge of event-driven systems (Kafka/SQS). • Experience with metrics, load testing, and optimization. Apply tot his job
