Associate Software Engineer

What you’ll do: As an associate member of our platform engineering team, you'll gain hands-on experience in supporting and maintaining our core infrastructure and platform services. You’ll primarily learn to work with Python on the backend and AWS services , contributing to the reliability and performance of our systems. While some frontend exposure is beneficial, your main focus will be on backend and infrastructure concepts. You'll learn to leverage AWS services like ECS/EKS, SQS, and RDS to understand robust and scalable cloud-based platforms. You'll assist in deploying on our GitLab CI/CD pipeline , learning how to automate infrastructure deployments and ensuring code and infrastructure changes are delivered smoothly. You’ll also learn to implement and understand monitoring and alerting to help guarantee our platform's health and performance, often assisting with troubleshooting issues as they arise. You'll also be exposed to basic security scans and learn to gather evidence for compliance purposes, understanding the importance of secure and compliant systems. Beyond coding, you'll collaborate with development teams to understand and improve their workflows and tooling. You'll participate in code reviews, learn from senior engineers, and contribute to a culture that emphasizes operational excellence and developer experience. You will be instrumental in learning about and maintaining tools and systems that make our developers more productive and our platform more stable, with opportunities to troubleshoot and resolve issues. What you bring: Foundational Software Development Skills: Basic proficiency with Python and NodeJS , with a strong desire to learn and deepen your expertise. Curiosity about Cloud: Exposure to AWS concepts, particularly ECS, EKS, SQS, RDS , and an eagerness to understand cloud-native architectures. Interest in CI/CD: Familiarity with version control concepts (e.g., GitLab ) and an eagerness to learn about CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and team collaboration. Troubleshooting Mindset: A knack for identifying and helping resolve issues, with a strong desire to learn about monitoring, alerting, and incident response for distributed systems. Interest in Automation: A desire to learn about tools like Terraform and how to automate infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and maintenance tasks. Problem-Solving Abilities: An aptitude for analyzing and assisting with complex infrastructure and application performance issues, with a commitment to learning how to deliver reliable solutions. Learning Agility: Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and technologies, demonstrating discipline and ownership in every project. Compliance and Security Awareness: An interest in learning about compliance requirements, basic security scanning, and how to gather necessary evidence for audits. Team Player: Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset, eager to learn from and support development teams.
